Home Sweet Home

When we first moved to Ohio back in August we also started building a house! That was such an exciting time to see that house grow and know we were going to make it ours! I shared my weekly pictures of it's progress as a lot of people were interested but I realized - I haven't shown a final picture! Sheesh! What a slacker I can be! LOL! Here's a couple of them to show you the final product...for now! We changed the original front just recently too by having the front stoop redone with brick work and added some rather large (12') trees added in the back yard for privacy too!

If you click on the pictures they get bigger and you can see the beautiful pink flowers I planted that are taking off like crazy!




Well, that's "Home Sweet Home"!

P.S. - the window in the upper left corner is "my craft room", where I hide in the evenings with my toys, laptop and T.V.! My little heaven on earth! LOL!

19 Days and Counting.....

Yep! We only have 19 days until we close and the rush to move is upon us again! This time we'll be freezing our hineys off! I think I gotta work though...yeah that's it..I gotta work! LOL! We'll be having a painting party at our place too, still waiting for all those offers to help us paint...not too late! Anyway, here is another, much better picture of the outside and a picture of the fireplace!

The hard part about this tile is trying to match a paint color for the wall! Yikes! I can't tell you how many paint swatches I've come home with!


I don't think they can finish the outside paint until the temperature gets back up a lot higher then it has been here!

We're Almost There.....

I'm so excited to post this - we have a final walk through date! YEAH!!! Painting party at my house for New Years Eve! We sign our lives over on the 30th and start moving in right after that! YEAH!!! I'm going to bust!! Here are some pictures of our last visit that shows some pretty good progress too!

Here's where I'll be drinking my morning coffee soon!! We have wood floors but for the sake of construction they're covered up to prevent damage...


This is where I'll be making my specialty - blackened chicken! Ha ha ha! Maybe I should say I should be saying it's where I'll be fulfilling the nutritional needs of my family! LOL!


Isn't it pretty! My creative space is where the window is on the second story! Isn't my honey the sweetest! He gave me my own room!

Nitty Gritty

We're getting down to the nitty gritty on house details now! I'm SO excited! Soon we'll be moving from our long term hotel, otherwise known as the townhoue to what will hopefully be "Home Sweet Home" for a long while! I have been taking a lot of pictures but someone, who will remain nameless but is the only child still living at home with sticky fingers on my camera (okay breathe here...!) has been downloading them and not telling me where they are! So, without furter ado (and for those interested!) here are some more pictures of our house progress;


No, your screen isn't dirty! LOL! Those little white flecks are "SNOW"! Yep, I braved the elements for this shot!



Well, this contraption isn't our new home gym! It's how they get the ceilings done when they're a couple stories high!



I think, in this shot, they're counting down the weeks until I no longer come and bug them for pictures! Or, maybe it's just the drywall primed for painting....



So, I'm wondering, do you think the guy who wrote this on the doorframe, told his Mom that when he grew up he wanted to get paid to write on the wall?! LOL!

3rd Piggy Pic

Huh? Say what? Okay I was trying to come up with a clever post title and all I could think of, to coordinate with this one, was the story of the 3 pigs where the 3rd one had a house of brick! Anywhooooo...... we, obviously, have brick up on our house now! YEAH! We also have dry wall up! YEAH! It seems like it's closer but, there are still many details that need to be done so it's still going to be a while! Here are some recent photos we took on our "Fun Friday" and even include Cameron! LOL!












I'm so excited it's beginning to look like a real house now!!

Getting Warm on the Inside...

Yeah we're getting SO much closer on the house now! I can hardly wait! This past week they finished the insulation, duct work and the wiring! Wednesday we will do a pre-dry wall walk through and then, yep! You guessed, drywall goes up! LOL! I missed a couple weeks of posting, didn't miss going out to take the weekly pictures though! I have a great scrapbook idea for them and can't wait to get started....and finish! LOL! That's the hard part!

We actually have windows now and the Tyvek wrap on our house! YEAH! So here's this week's picture! Gotta run now, my honey is panicking since I need to get ready for church - starts in over an hour! Sheesh!

It's Getting So Big Now!!

It's almost like watching a baby grow! LOL! We stopped by our house yesterday and look at the difference this week! I can hardly believe I am already walking through what started off as just a sheet of paper and a long, long list! LOL!

We Have Walls - sort of.....

They actually made huge progress on the house! We have walls, well some of them anyway! Imagine my surprise driving up and looking for our house, last time I was here they had just poured the basement floor!




I drove up and couldn't see our house - then I see this and realize! OMG! That's our house! It's finally taking shape! I'm getting so excited!!

YEAH! They're still making progress on the house! Well, until the rain today put the plumbers behind! We actually have basement walls now! I couldn't get any closer as there was a big piece of equipment and mounds of dirt and rocks in my way! Here it is for this Friday!

Ladies and Gentlemen we have made progress! Here's an update on the house! They have the foundation walls poured! YEAH! It's still at that "looks smaller then it really is" stage but we're getting there! Here's this week's picture;

Dishing The Dirt.....

Okay so maybe not THAT kind of dirt but how about they started digging our basement today! YEAH!! It's like my little brother's Tonka trucks they had when they were little! It's so cute! I remember they used to play with them and make "sounds" too! Okay so maybe back then I didn't think it was so cute, but now, looking back I sure do! LOL! So now the clock is ticking! In our pre-construction meeting they estimated 140 days from "dig" to "house" so we'll see what happens since Fall is coming and Winter usually follows! LOL! I hope we're on track as I'd love a place to sit other then in a dining room chair! LOL! Oh, okay fine, I have the floor I can sit on! LOL! Don't even ask what I'm scrapping on! We'll just suffice it to say our dining room table normally has a leaf in it.... for the next 3 months or so it won't! LOL! Here's a picture of the basement;

Here's a view from the street. It looks awfully close to that neighbor's house doesn't it?! Hopefully they won't feel a need to keep that bunker there when we move in! LOL!



Thar she blows...oops wrong line, "Thar they dig"! How's that?! LOL! I don't know why the hole looks smaller then it really is when the house is done?! Weird huh?!

Home Sweet Home - August 15, 2008

Big News -

When we were chosen for Brian to attend the AFIT program here in Ohio we were faced with a decision we've had to make many, many times or at least every time we've moved that is - buy or rent! Breanna is in high school, 10th grade to be exact, and I know from personal experience moving can be difficult especially in high school! I can't move her again until she graduates! So faced with the knowledge we will be here until at least 2011 we decided to make an investment in a home! YEAH! So now all those years of watching HGTV and thinking "when I get my own home again....." will really pay off! I'll be sharing pictures of our home as it's being built so if you're interested it will be under the title "Home Sweet Home"!
